Yes. Your Individual Supports Budget can pay for this.

CreatAbility is an approved vendor with the New Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities. When the funding is in place, families pay nothing out of pocket. This page is the whole process, in order, in plain language.

DDD has already reviewed and approved CreatAbility to provide services. You are not asking anyone to make an exception for us.

If the service is written into the plan and the budget covers it, there is no out-of-pocket cost to the family.

They write the plan. You tell them you want CreatAbility in it. We give you the exact words to use, below.

Step by step

Four steps, and most of them are ours to do.

  1. Call us, or send the form on this page

    Tell us who the class is for, what county you live in, and that you are using DDD funding. Five minutes on the phone saves a month of email.

  2. Come see a class

    Before anything is signed, come watch. Bring the person the class is for. If it is not right, we would rather find that out now than in week three.

  3. Tell your support coordinator you want us in the plan

    Use the wording in the grey box below. Your coordinator adds CreatAbility to the service plan under the right service category and submits it.

  4. We handle the paperwork with DDD, and you start

    Once the plan is approved, we take it from there. You show up to class.

Questions we get every week

Straight answers

My son already has a full day program. Can he still do this?

Usually yes. Classes here are typically an evening or weekend commitment and sit alongside a day program rather than replacing it. Your coordinator will confirm how it fits inside the budget.

What if the budget will not stretch to cover it?

Talk to us anyway. There is a self-pay path at $90 per group class, we can set up a sliding scale for you and your family, and we are working hard on scholarships. Nobody should walk away because of a number without having a conversation first.

Does my child need a specific diagnosis?

For DDD funding, eligibility is determined by DDD, not by us. For the class itself, no. We work with people who have autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities, ADHD, and mental health challenges.

How long does the approval take?

It depends on where you are in your plan year and how quickly your coordinator can update the plan. In practice it is usually about two weeks from your first call to your first class.

What if we try it and it is not right?

Then it is not right, and we will say so first. This only works if the person in the class wants to be in the class.
